All Kids Ride Bikes at South Side Academy
South Side Academy is the 2022 All Kids Bike grant recipient. The All Kids Bike program provides bikes and bicycle training to schools to help children enjoy the freedom of bike riding. The program is made possible through donations from individuals, businesses, events, and fundraisers.
Since its inception in 2014, the All Kids Bike program has distributed over 1,000,000 bikes and has partnered with over 70,000 schools, training teachers on how to teach students to ride bikes and providing the bikes to make it possible. All Kids Bikes' mission is to teach every child in America how to ride a bike in kindergarten PE class.
With the generous donation from All Kids Bikes, South Side Students can explore their neighborhoods, get exercise, and have fun. The program is also helping to reduce childhood obesity and, at the same time, teaching students a fitness activity that they can participate in their entire life.
This incredible opportunity for the students at South Side Academy began when Dean of Students Kristine Hunchuck and Physical Education teacher Tiffany Vesey applied for the grant over a year ago. Through hard work and collaboration with the All Kids Bike program creator and social media, South Side Academy will receive 24 kindergarten Strider bikes that teach children to ride bikes, training for Tiffiny, and an adult bike for classroom demonstration. In addition, South Side Academy is currently working with other community agencies to provide personal bikes for all their kindergarteners' students.
Bikes are a great way to get exercise, and they can also be used for transportation. This grant will help the students at South Side Academy stay active and healthy, and it will also give them a new way to get around their community. Thank you, All Kids Bike, for this fantastic opportunity
